My Little Yarny Boy

Hey mom- why don't you knit with this pretty green stuff today?

Here's my little
"design consultant" London, always digging about in my stash. This seems to his #1 favorite activity. No, it's not playing with the many.....many (noisy) toys he just received for his first birthday. He's mystified by mommy's yarn. He just can't help himself. Hey, can you blame him?

When it comes to my stash, I will admit, I haven't quite baby-proofed the house. I love to see bits and balls of yarn in pretty baskets and yarn bags all around. I know this isn't practical with a 1 year old, but I just have to do a bit more chasing. When he gets a hold of ball, if I don't get to it quick enough, it's very similar to having a cat hitting the yarn jackpot-- within minutes it will be a total knotted up disaster.
Most of my yarn is stored away behind closed doors, but in a perfect world, I would of course have all of my yarn in lovely color-coordinated neat cubbies. But for now, it's the world of London, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Little Bita London

London loves to go straight for mom's stash. Daddy would rather that he plays with his little plastic golf clubs, but he'd rather go for the yarn. I hate to compare my sweet little son to a cat, but it's those things down at ankle-level that he can't keep his little chubby hands off of. Aside from the yarn, his other favorites are getting into the sticky notes, and pulling mommy's knitting books off the shelf. Funny, he can't yet hold a Cheerio, but he can certainly wreak some havoc in mommy's office.

Conversation With London
After we go for our morning power walk on the beach, London sits in his Bumbo watching mommy putter about in the kitchen, making one of her culinary marvels. From time to time, I sit on the floor with London and try to have a little conversation. He laughs, and sometimes stares in disbelief. But I know in his own little 9-month old baby way, he's clearly engaged in our conversation.

Here's a snippet.......

Hey mom, watchya doin'? I thought it was time for breakfast?

Excuse, me, but can you stop knitting for just one minute?

Okay, now come on already. I know how you feel about "being in the middle of the row," but I need you to put those needles down for one minute.

It's about time I have your attention. You know it's all about me. Don't worry, you can knit later. Just give it a rest.

Yes, it is all about London, and he always gets his way! How could I possibly resist?

Another Day In Paradise

I can't beleive it's been one week since we've moved into our new place. Reflecting on this year, I feel so incredibly blessed with my life. I couldn't be happier, or ask for more. I have an amazing husband, who has been dubbed "Mr. Mom," and of course my brand new beautiful baby boy!

With all that has happened this year, I'm also proud of my accomplishments as well. With becoming a new mom, I'm amazed that my business is still going strong, and thrilled that my first book as editor will be released this coming Februray. In addition to that, another book is in the works, and another in the planning stages. Getting it all done can be a challenge, but when there's a will there's a way!

Still lots to do before TNNA next month. It will be here before I know it, and there are 3 samples to be made! When all is said and done, there will be a total of 7 new patterns in the igottknits pattern line. It will be very fulfilling to see all the samples photographed, and in print. Looking back, I'm amazed that all of this was in process before I had the baby, and now he's nearly 4 months old.

What an exciting year this has been indeed!

Happy 3 Month Birthday London!

Getting ready for my trip to DRG Publications to review the final touches on my latest book. I'm so excited because this is my first round as a book editor, and I can't wait to see it in print in a few short months! I'm not excited however, to leave London. The way I see it- It's a small sacrifice I have to make in order to be home to see him grow and change every day. It's certainly a challenge looking after him, and running a business too, but I manage...somehow!
In between reviewing layouts and photos for the book, I'm also frantically trying to get my igottknits patterns ready in time for TNNA. I'm amazed that when all is said and done, I will have 7 new patterns this season! To think that I started working on this line shortly before I gave birth to London. I wasn't thinking too much about knitting or work while in the hospital recovering from my c-section, but let's just say I had some sort of a fantasy that I would be knitting during labor to help me focus! I didn't knit a single stitch.
I can't believe today is London's 3 month birthday! I love him more every day, and I just can't stop kissing him. Now, he makes little goo goo noises, and is always there to give me a smile during my hectic day!
