Yes, we have a winner! Wow, what imaginative ideas. It was a hard decision, but I'm proud to announce that Dove Knits has won the DellaQ Rosemary Bag!
Check out these great tips from Dove Knits:
Tip #1: A packet of dental floss has that little sharp edge that is great for cutting yarn, and perfect for taking along with you on the plane.
Tip #2: You can make little laminated note cards with standard knitting know-how, such as how to do Kitchener stitch, to take along with you. I know some places also sell such cards. If your pattern is from a book, make a photocopy (yes, it's legal to do that for personal use) to take along with you. That way you're not flipping through a book, and have more room for yarn!
Tip #3: When working on DPNs, I put a hair tie around the fabric that's forming. It keeps the stitches more closely together on the needles and prevents them from slipping off, especially when I have to throw my project in my bag.
Tip #4: Can't bring knitting needles on the plane? Pack a plastic darning needle and work on seaming up those projects you've been avoiding! Come on, you know you have some of those sitting around!
I especially love the hair twistie idea. I can't tell you how many times I've gone into my knitting bag, only find my in-the-round project half off the needles. You go girl! These tips are keepers for life!
I also want to mention another great tip from JC, which is more like a fun idea for kids. I want to share it, because it such a clever idea for keeping kids occupied. It's amazing to see how engrossed a child can become when they learn how to knit or crochet.

My travel tip is this: keep a little project bag in the car, in the glove compartment or under a seat for when you are traveling with young children. Have a simple pattern and don't tell them its there. Halfway through the trip when they're cranky and bored, bring out the yarn and show them how to knit, crochet or make a craft. It's helpful if the project results in a toy or something they can play with after they're done. It's a nice strategy to get kids "hooked" on crafting.
I would like to end on a healthy note- thanks PinkAdele for you tip about staying healthy during air travel. I think we can all use this advice:
PinkAdele said... My recommendation is if you're going to fly, take care of yourself. Eat healthy food and vitamins. Take crystallized ginger for travel sickness.
I had so much fun conducting this contest, so don't miss out on more to come! Another DellaQ bag giveaway, a T-shirt, and copies of my brand spankin' new book: Tops & Toes: A Whimsical Collection to Delight Hat and Sock Knitters. If you love knitting hats and socks, this is the book for you! Check out the Tops & Toes Blog Tour, where you can get the inside scoop from the designers in the book. Check it out here.
Thanks again to everyone for your generous contribution of tips and advice. I had lots of fun reading and visiting your blogs. I hope you all had as much fun as I did!
Congratulations again to Dove Knits!
