Knitting Around The World in 50 Posts

It's always so nice to see my copy of Yarn Market News arrive! Lots of info, no fluff! I love how YMN provides so much valuable information about what's going on in cyberspace. Here's a little piece of info I'd like to share about a new blog- Mary Taylor's: Knitting On Top of The World pays homage to Nicky Epstein's same-named book. Taylor plans on ambitiously knitting each project in the book on her own 4-year "armchair" tour around the globe. She even plans on knitting each garment in the same yarns Nicky chose for each project.

A long-time fan of Nicky's, says this is homage is "a great sort of mid-life crisis project." She wanted to knit more than baby items, and thought the "world tour" idea of the project would make it an exciting adventure.

You can catch more about Mary Taylor, on her blog here.

Crafty Eye Candy

While on my nightly online travels, I ran into so many exciting finds. I usually can't remember where I quite start off, but this evening, my journey began on knitgrrl, and ended on Vickie Howell's blog. Shannon shares some tidbits about Mashable, a site that tells you the best people to Tweet, with Shannon Okey on the top of the list for crafts. Way to go Shannon!

Here are some inspiring tidbits for your evening journey. I promise you'll be inspired!

Alexa Westerfield's blog a.k.a. Swell Designer
I found myself on this blog twice, so it must be an omen of some kind. One of the best designer blogs I've been on to date. Alexa is a fabulous illustrator and graphic designer. On her blog, she generously shares advice on branding and marketing your business.

The Impatient Crafter
Margot Potter must be my soul sister. Impatient crafters unite! So many crafty things, such little time! Her blog posts are comical, clever and witty.

Angry Chicken
I just like this blog. I first read about it in Mothering Magazine, along with other crafty moms. Wish I could have a bunch of crafty moms in my neighborhood!

Jerimiah's New York
a.k.a. The Book of Lamentations: a bitterly nostalgic look at a city in the process of going extinct. Obviously not a craft site, but one that has become near and dear to my heart as a native New Yorker. Thursday's post: Everyday Chatter, contains a funny, not-so-realistic blurb about "StuyTown," referring to its new residents as "bringing sexy back." Huh? I lived across the street from Stuyvesant Town, which we called "StuyvieTown." I don't recall any sexy inhabitants. The only thing I can recall is this old man who used to pee in our entrance way. We nicknamed him the "pee-er." Oh, the memories.
